JAM for Refugees

St. Paul’s Church, Latrobe Terrace

Saturday 28th October, between 11.00 am and 9.00 pm.

The Jam is a ten hour concert consisting of a series of 30-minute time slots involving the finest musicians from the Geelong Region: soloists, choirs, ensembles and school groups.  Every 2 hours there will be a short talk by someone associated with refugees, or an actual refugee.

People are invited to “come when you can, leave when you must”.  Entry is by donation, all funds being donated to CRAG to assist refugees.

There will be a BBQ in the church grounds between 12.00 and 1.30 pm, and afternoon tea in the church hall from 2.00 to 4.00.  Parking is available in the church grounds if you enter just south of the church.

People are encouraged to come at any time, and to spread the word and bring their friends, to support this very worthy cause.

The Elia Hub in Norlane offers a safe space for young people around Geelong to meet after school.  Run by the Seventh Day Adventist Church, the hub is open every second Tuesday during school terms for teens to get together for a game of basketball and other activities plus fresh fruit smoothies.

This is a free service for community based, not-for-profit events and services. Generally speaking, qualifying events and services fit the following criteria:

  • Run by not-for-profit groups without benefit to commercial entities
  • Free to attend or have a low entry charge to cover costs
  • For the benefit of the community
  • Not a regular church service
  • Short description of what the event is
  • Where it is to be held
  • Time and date of event
  • Cost of event
  • Phone number for more information for listeners that will be included on our website listing

 

Announcements that DO NOT qualify  for the Community File are: 

  • The sale of property, vehicles, or products or services of any kind for the purpose of deriving income for business or private purposes
  • Events where any kind of payments in cash or like kind may be made to 96three by the promoter of any event as this constitutes sponsorship
  • Tasteless or unacceptable events that would generally be unacceptable to this ministry or its membership or as deemed by the management of 96three
  • Swap and trade events involving the exchange of goods
  • Events that are clearly meant to be serviced by paid sponsorship
